PLA description

PLA (polylactic acid) is a thermoplastic polyester known for stiffness, rigidity and low price, but the low glass transition temperature (around 55-65C) makes it less suitable for high temperature applications. Low warping and good dimensional accuracy make it a preferable material for large or high-detail parts, while it is still less performant than other plastics like ASA or PETG. Additionally, some types of PLA can degrade under heat and moisture over time, so outdoor use is limited. In additive manufacturing, PLA supports different surface finishes and can be printed in a variety of colors - matte, sparkling, fluorescent or material imitation like wood.
