PLA (polylactic acid) is a stiff, rigid, and a cost effective thermoplastic. However, low glass transition temperature (around 55-65C) makes it less suitable for high temperature applications. It is a preferable material for large, decorative or high-detail parts. Some types of PLA are bio-degradable, so outdoor use is limit ed unless coated or painted. PLA is available in a variety of colors and finishes - matte, sparkling, fluorescent or material imitation like wood.
